HELLO DEARS
I GOT A QUESTION IN CANTILEVER SLAB, AND ACCORDING TO TS-500 CODE, I NEED TO CHECK THE DEFLECTION,WHICH EQUATIONS ARE USE,,,LS/240 OR LS/480?
CAN ANY ONE EXPLAIN??

Hello Ammer,

According to TS500, for total deflection, ln/240 should be selected for story elements if normal or roof stories are divided by walls...

if normal or roof stories are divided by walls and in same time if there are elements in story, which might be effected by higher deflection results, ln/480 should be selected.

hi hakan
i hope you are in a good health.
i agree with you in your points.and how can i recognize that the roofs or floors will be effected in high deflection? and if i have a cantilever slab what are the total deflection allowable?
thanks

Hi ammer

unfortunately there is no clear explanation in TS500 for that. According to my opinion, if element is sensitive for big deflection's effect with time passing, it should be check with ln/480.

But there is other condition in TS500. if your element's height is greater than this values given below, you don't need to check deflection. There is also an option in program for this.

for cantilever slab: if h > ln/10, you don't need to check deflection for that. You may leave option as unchecked in slab properties.
